My name is Steve Strait, I am the owner operator of Hook Setter Guide Service, LLC. I have over 52 years of fishing experience. I began fishing, hunting, and trapping at an early age. My passion is enjoying the great gifts God gave us in the outdoors.

I have been fishing Iron, Oneida, and Vilas Counties since 1984, and guiding these counties for the past 15 years. I was a Tournament and Circuit fisherman for over 20 years, and have gained a vast amount of knowledge of new techniques along the way.

My job as your guide is to make sure you catch fish and have a great time doing it. I will answer all questions you have from techniques, how to read a locator, and what the patterns are for that time of year.

I am a proud supporter of “TAKE A VET FISHING” and have donated my guide service to this organization as well as “WOUNDED WARRIORS”. In 2021, I was one of three guys that helped Wounded Warriors put together a day of fishing and banquet for the Vets and their families. The first in the Minocqua area. I believe in giving back to those who gave so much for their country so we can enjoy our freedoms.

I run a 185 Alumacraft Competitor with all the newest electronics and equipment. My truck, boat and gear are always clean and ready. If you want to catch fish, and have a great time doing it, give me a call. Let’s set some hooks and “getter done”!
